When fishing turns deadly
A report briefing by EJF’s grassroots partner in Indonesia called JALA who benefitted from EJF’s “Training for Trainers” programme. JALA went on to produce a film and this report which were used to lobbying the Indonesian Government and International Community to do more to combat illegal fishing in the country.
EJF has given JALA field investigation, film and editing training to produce educational and documentary films. JALA has produced their first documentary “Stop Trawl – When Fishing Turns Deadly” exposing the awful consequences illegal trawling activities are having on local livelihoods and the marine environment of Northern Sumatra. With EJF’s support, JALA is working to promote peaceful solutions to a conflict over dwindling fish stocks between illegal fishing vessels and traditional fishers that has claimed over 200 lives in the past 15 years.
Both the film and report are included in this price.
