Dirty Fish – How EU Hygiene Standards Facilitate Illegal Fishing in West Africa

New petitionEJF’s new report ‘Dirty Fish’ documents the findings of 14 months of EJF investigations in Sierra Leone. We have both tracked and boarded pirate fishing vessels to gain first-hand evidence to prove the impact pirate fishing vessels are having on food and environmental security in Sierra Leone. These investigations have also shown how failure of EU hygiene laws both facilitates illegal fishing in West Africa, and potentially compromise the health and safety of European consumers.
