Spring into Action with EJF |
EJF Highlights so far in 2011 (Jan - March)Over 10,000 of you signed our petition for a Global Record for fisheries vessels which was delivered in January to the United Nations. As a result the international community looks set to develop a Global Record, which, for the first time will provide a range of vital information on fishing vessels and their owners.
For our Pick Your Cotton Carefully campaign, EJF was invited by the Minister of State for Europe and Nato and the British Ambassador to Uzbekistan to a meeting at Westminster. It was an important opportunity to present the latest developments and discuss opportunities to address the on going abuses in Uzbekistan’s state-controlled cotton industry. Last week EJF launched an urgent petition on the toxic pesticide endosulfan which is being reviewed in April for a global ban. In five days 6,757 people signed the petition which will be delivered to delegations from China, India and Argentina at the Stockholm Convention. Sign up below if you haven't already. And finally, we were delighted to have the opportunity to show long term supporter Lily Cole just how well our campaign t-shirts are made in India. In many ways acting as examples of real solutions to our pesticides, cotton and climate refugees campaigns through sustainable 'Earth Positive' supply chains. The Climate Week T-shirt
