A new report by the Environmental Justice Foundation due out on Tuesday 26th May 2009 called "Still in the Fields" will reveal the widespread use of state-sponsored forced child labour in the cotton fields of the Central Asian Republic of Uzbekistan, the world’s 3rd largest cotton exporter and a major supplier to both European traders and ultimately, the EU marketplace.

The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is calling for companies, consumers and governments to help secure an end to this human rights abuse.

The report summarises EJF’s in-country investigations in October 2008 and reports from independent media and human rights defenders in Uzbekistan.

Its release coincides with the tenth anniversary of the landmark International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention 182 on the Worst Forms of Child Labour.
