| Giant Shrimp Farming Project Threatens Brazil's Precious Marine Biodiversity28 April 2006Bahia's State Environment Council is today deliberating on whether to issue an environmental licence permitting what would be the biggest shrimp farm development in Brazil. Recognised as being of immense environmental importance, much of the area in question should be protected as a Permanent Preservation Area, as recognised in Brazilian law.
