Intern with EJF’s ‘Pirate’ Fishing Campaign

An extremely unusual opportunity for a very high-calibre, stand-out candidate, to join EJF’s small, successful team working on Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported “pirate” fishing.

The successful candidate will be brought into work on key areas of the campaign, while providing full administrative support to the Senior Campaigner, the Marketing and PR Manager and the Directors.

S/he will gain first-hand experience of working on a successful international campaign. A truly exceptional candidate, able to achieve according to high pressure deadlines on ambitious goals during the internship will be asked to interview for a paid role in the organisation’s campaign team.

Applicants must have:
- Education to a degree level or higher
- Superb communications skills both orally and in writing – N.B. there is a particular need to write concise, compelling and accurate copy according to tight deadlines and covering multiple, complex issues. There is also a specific need to give winning face-to-face presentations.
- Excellent research skills.
- Superb organisational ability.
- Proven interest in environment and human-rights

Would benefit from:
- Study in a relevant academic or vocational discipline – e.g. journalism, biological sciences, economics or marine conservation.
- A second European language and in particular French or Spanish.
- Articles published in popular media, academic journals or similar.
- Experience of issue-based campaigning in the European Union
- Experience of field research, conservation or human-rights projects in the developing world.

This internship is for a minimum 3 days a week for a 3 month period.
The position is unpaid although travel in London and lunch allowance are provided.

Book keeper/admin assistant

The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is looking for a part time bookkeeper/admin assistant to start in early 2010 for 1 day per week. The successful individual needs to be a trained book keeper with office admin experience. The candidate should be highly organised, confident, have a good telephone manner and be enthusiastic about working for a small but steadily growing charity working to protect the environment and human rights. All work must be undertaken at the EJF office in London. References will be required.

Rate of pay £12.50 per hour.

Marketing and PR internship

EJF is excited to announce two internship within the Marketing, PR and Development team.
We are looking for 2 bright, highly organized, media-savvy people to undertake internships helping EJF achieve the charity's income, membership and campaign goals through effective fundraising events and initiatives.

Areas of focus will be EJF's designer organic t-shirt project (sales/PR), challenge fundraising events, retailer collaborations, affiliate programmes, membership and supporter relations.

It is a great opportunity for a hardworking, motivated and enthusiastic individual with an interest and proven experience in Marketing AND PR to work with a well respected environment and human rights charity on exciting campaigns. Please note that the successful candidate should show experience/willing to be heavily involved in all aspects of marketing as well as PR.

- researching, writing and editing reports
- fundraising
- translation - Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian
- design (web and print) and video editing
- helping with campaigns - such as writing for the media, contacting celebrity campaign 'ambassadors' and assisting with the distribution of campaign reports.
