Leaving a legacy will enable Environmental Justice Foundation to continue to help people protect their natural world and basic human rights.

Legacies are a crucial source of funding for us, and our work relies on the generous gifts that our supporters leave us in their wills.

Whether you are amending your current Will, or drawing up a new one it is relatively simple and efficient to leave a gift. However, it is important that you seek professional legal advice and are aware that all charitable legacies are exempt from tax. It is not too expensive to make a Will, fees can start from around £50.

There are three main ways to leave a legacy to EJF:

  1. Residuary legacy - a share of the remainder of your estate after all other payments have been met and legacies have been made.

  2. Pecuniary legacy - a gift of a fixed sum of money specified in your will.

  3. Specific legacy - a gift of a particular item of value, such as a house, piece of jewellery, stocks & shares etc.

When talking to your solicitor it will be helpful to pass on our full charity name, address and charity number:

You may find the following wording helpful when drawing up your Will.

To leave a legacy to Environmental Justice Foundation for a percentage of your estate (a Residuary legacy):

"Subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give the whole/ ___% of my estate not otherwise disposed of by this my Will to Environmental Justice Foundation Charitable Trust (UK Registered Charity Number: 1088128) of 1 Amwell Street, London, EC1R 1UL, for the general purposes of Environmental Justice Foundation and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge."
